Dear Katie and Caroline,
I have nothing against you or your writing styles, but one thing strikes me as funny. You fight against the Native Removal Act. I personally believe otherwise. I know that you have both native and white readers and are trying to keep both, but I refuse to believe it was a bad thing for several reasons.
To start off, the Native Removal Act is a huge advancement towards gaining more land for us white settlers. They are not at the same level as us! They are savage natives, and we need them out. They will be fine out in Indian Territory. With them leaving, we will have more opportunity to use their land to grow cash crops and our economy. Some of their lands are fertile and good for farming, plus it will provide a population boost. There is no reason that we shouldn't striave for this.
Second, GOLD has been found on CHEROKEE lands! We should have access to these minerals! This would also lure people to Gerogia to mine for gold. This poulation shift would also have more people helping to grow and expand the economy. Plus their taxes they pay will help to support our still growing government.
I hope you take these two facts into consideration when you publish your next article on Indian Removal.
Sincerely,
John Brown
